Ipad magic keyboard delete key does not work with mail after OS14.2 update

Are you having issues using the 'delete' key with any other apps besides the Mail app? Have you tried restarting your iPad to see if it helps? Restart your iPad

If this only happens with the Mail app, we recommend that you try force closing the Mail app and then re-open it: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I am having this same problem using an Apple Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad. The problem only occurs in the Apple Mail app. This only started after my iOS 14.2 upgrade. None of the proposed fixes you suggested above solves the issue. Thanks

Are you having this issue with one specific app or multiple apps? Have you tested another app to see if you experience the same issue?

We want to make sure that we isolate the issue between the Mail app and your Magic Keyboard.

Does this issue occur when you're replying to an email, composing a new email or both?

I’m having the same frustrating problem as well. When pressing the delete key in the Mail app the desired action of deleting the highlighted email(s) simply does not occur.

When can we expect a fix for this issue? Do we have to wait for for a major 14.* update or will it be rolled out in a smaller update soon.

I just purchased a new iPad Pro 11 2020 and magic keyboard in an attempt to possibly “replace” my old MBP, and if successful I’d like to purchase a new M1 Mac mini for computer use. If simple actions like this are not reliable and available I think many users will be Dissuaded from purchasing and using iPad pros along with magic keyboards.

I’m also having this problem in the Apple Mail App after the update. IPad Air 4, with Magic Keyboard, both purchased at the same time. Delete is working as expected in other applications.

The process I was using, was arrow keys to navigate the email list, trackpad to move through the email and the delete key to remove the email when I no longer wanted it.

Apple support, this is outrageous. Where is your reply to this issue? It's been 3 or 4 weeks now and you just went silent on us. This is an issue affecting everybody. It makes the magic keyboard + iPad pro virtually unusable for mail.app/email functionality. Please fix ASAP!!!

I just updated my 2020 iPad Pro 11” to iPad OS 14.3 and now the delete key on my Magic Keyboard is working properly within the native Apple Mail App, yay!

I hope the update resolves the issue on all other iPad/keyboard combos as well.

I can confirm the same issue. Since updating to 14.2 on my iPad the delete key on my magic keyboard stopped working to delete mail using the Mail app.

It works everywhere as expected.

Same issue here, as well as a myriad of other users not on this thread. Apple, please look into this with a fix for 14.3.

I am having the same issue as well. Started end September sometime. Till then the Delete Key in Mail App was working fine. The problem is only with the Mail App.

Yeah Apple, when are you going to fix this fault??? I’m really happy that I paid £300 for an Apple keyboard that doesn’t function correctly with an Apple app....NOT!!!

Same issue here, still appears to be no resolution or response from Apple. Apple, please work to rectify this issue ASAP, it creates huge inefficiencies.

Good news - after updating to iOS 14.3 the delete key is working like it used to in iOS Mail client.
