screen mirroring zoom meeting generates audio feedback

I'd like to use screen mirroring to push my zoom meeting from my ipad to my TV. Turns out its easy to initiate, except that in doing so it mirrors the video AND the audio. Since the microphone is still on the ipad, this results in feedback being fed into the meeting for all to enjoy.

I saw another post suggesting that the solution is to mute the TV audio. But that doesn't really help since it basically turns off all audio at my location.

So is there any solution out there to...

1) just push the video, not the audio, to the TV

or

2) push both to the TV, but retain the audio on the ipad as well (i.e., making the mute option viable)

or

3) something completely different

Note that I already have a direct connection option involving HDMI. It doesn't have the feedback issue, but it has a different issue (not to mention being kind of clumsy) that I was hoping to bypass by going with a screen mirroring solution.
