iPhone starts lagging when connecting AirPods

Whenever i try to connect my airpods pro they wont connect and my phone starts lagging, i have to turn off my apple watch and restart Bluetooth then it will work. Does anyone know why this happens cuz i dont want to restart my apple watch every time
