I want to upgrade my mac from 128GB to 1TB SSD.
Will my MacBook Air A1466 (2017) support Crucial P5 CT1000P5SSD8 M.2 PCIe G3 1x4 / NVMe 1TB Internal SSD (Black)?

i think so, the website has a compatibility thingeee on their site, BUT i would personally ask the vendor if that does.
i upgraded my 2010 MacBook air this year because the vendor promised me their ssd drive would run in my notebook.

you need to ask the person selling the ssd card, not us
we can't answer for them.

Wow that's really informative. Thank you. I am running latest version of macos. Waiting for Big Sur now.
Sure, as you suggested, I will check OWC SSD.
And links to exact OWC product have already been supplied
in advance of your realization. ~ So: Knock yourself out! 🙄
Take care & good luck!🌤📬

The MBAir uses a proprietary Apple PCIe SSD connector so a standard M.2 SSD won't work without an adapter. I have no experience with the adapter. Personally I'm not so sure about using the P5 SSD as it uses QLC NAND which is slower and less robust than TLC NAND found in many other SSDs.
No matter which third party PCIe SSD you use it will require using macOS 10.13+. It will also require that macOS 10.13+ is installed before installing a third party PCIe SSD in order to upgrade the system firmware so it can handle an NVMe SSD. I highly recommend keeping the original Apple SSD just in case you ever have problems installing a later version of macOS or a later firmware update.
Keep in mind the only third party SSD with full vendor support is from OWC. Most other third party M.2 SSDs will not be officially supported on a MBAir since the MBAir uses a proprietary PCIe SSD connector.
