Anyone facing this problem post iOS 14.2 update.
If the assistive touch is on, the Carplay menu doesn't work in BMW E90. You won't be able to select any menu or input anything using iDrive controller.
Everything works as expected if the Assistive touch is switched off!
Is this already known reported problem or still some blame game is on between BMW and Apple?

You can use the native apps “shortcuts” to create personal automation to set AssistiveTouch on & off while connect & disconnect CarPlay. Remember to set “ask before running” is off to dismiss manually toggle.
I already reported this to Apple as well. They told me no one's having this issue which certainly several people do.
I have a Mazda 3 HB, and assistive touch won't allow me to select anything on CarPlay. So it's an iOS problem.

I checked with multiple Bimmer forums and yes most of them have reported this problem. For me problem is evident in Iphone 11 pro and IPhone X and Iphone 7 plus all with iOS 14.2.
With my older Iphone 6, with iOS12.4 there is no problem.
I have narrowed it down this much, I hope Craig Federighi and his team can take it forward from here!
I have a 2019 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 and iPhone Xr with Assistive touch enabled and caused the same Carplay issue. Basically, it will allow me to position to any app but when you click on Command to enter the app then it just does not do anything. Once I turned off Assistive touch then "ENTER" command worked and everything back to normal. This issue only started when I upgraded my iPhone Xr to iOS 14.2. 14.1 was fine and it is definitely iOS 14.2 issue.
Happened to my Mazda 3 too, I first thought it was an issue with my car but then saw whenever I tried clicking on anything using the commander knob a grey circle would appear in the left corner of my phone screen?? Weird
It seems like the problem is with version 14.2 and newer. It’s not with the car models or iPhone type. Hopefully they will solve the problem on the next version otherwise just turn off the assistive touch while using Apple CarPlay.

I have a Mazda CX-5 and i face the same issue to with my iPhoneXS Max iOS14.2, but i have no issues with iPhone11 iOS 14.1.
Its clear that the issue is with the new iOS14.2
It’s the same problem I have on a Mercedes ML400 after updating to 14.2. Turning off the assistive touch fix the problem. Now my problem is that I used a lot the option on IOS
I have same problem with Mercedes-Benz A250. We make sure it is updated iOS problem.
I'm using iPhone 8.

Me too. There is no problem with ip5se however i cant use any ok command on ip7. Assistive touch blocks cars’ interface. You canuse CarPlay without ok command
