Contacts are not synchronizing...should I leave the device open or on to allow for it to do it? Thanks

On the iPad, try toggling Contacts off/on via Settings > Name > iCloud > Contacts.
On what particular device is the contacts not syncing?
On the iPad...contacts seem not to have been synced in a long time...strange, because they are synced on the iPhone or the iMac. Thanks

Only snag is, many contacts appear doubled. Is there a procedure to erase doubles? Thanks
