Mouse arrow frozen in top left corner during Mac OS recovery efforts. Can't activate buttons to re-install OS

Mouse arrow frozen in top left corner during Mac OS recovery efforts. Can't activate buttons to re-install OS. How is this fixed? I was able to highlight some buttons through the use of keys but nothing seems to highlight either the 'back' or 'instal' buttons on the final screen.

Hi Surfowl,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. Being able to use macOS recovery is definitely important, and you're in the right place for help!

For verification, your cursor is unresponsive, and you're unable to use Tab on your keyboard to access the buttons to proceed, correct?

What was happening that led you to using macOS recovery? That might help work out possible causes.

Does your mouse work when you start up to your desktop?

Also, is this a third-party mouse, or Apple-made? Have you tried a different mouse?

It might helpful to reset your NVRAM, as this can help with some issues with input devices: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

Let us know, and also let us know your exact Mac model.

Kind regards.
