The new keyboard on iPad is awful
The new keyboard in iPad iOS 14 is very cumbersome to use! /

Your iPad and upgrade to iPadOS 14 brought up the moving mini keyboard instead of the full size keyboard.
To get back the full size keyboard put your thumb and 1st finger atop the mini keyboard and spread those fingers apart, in a pinching outward motion, to increase the mini keyboard back to the full screen fixed keyboard.
