Why won’t my mastercard work when adding to my apple ID.

There is a problem when i add my mastercard to my apple ID... is is because there needs to be a certain amount of funds in the card?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

What happens when you try to add the card? Error message(s)? Payment method declined?
