MacBook Pro screen goes blank on startup

When I boot up my MacBook, the Apple logo and the load bar appear. After 2/3 in, the screen turns off for half of a second and turns back on. When turning back on the backlighting of the MacBook also turn on.

How can I fix this? A SMC and PRAM reset did not help.

One test to narrow it down, plug into an external monitor. If it is your display only you should have the external screen, if it is GPU then nothing externally.

You do not say what exact Mac this is(?) however older macs have had issues with the discreet GPU failing and if there are 2 GPU you can force it to use just the integrated GPU...

It also happens if I’m connected to an extrenal display. This is the MacBook Pro with Touchbar 2018 with Core i9 2,9GHz and the 560X discreet graphics.

I switched on the setting to change the graphics card to the energy efficient one but it‘s still happening.

Besides this, I do not notice any other issues with graphics.
