Big Sur upgrade on a Macbook Pro mid 2012

According to the compatibility chart from Apple I am unable to upgrade to Big Sur. I upgraded to a 500gb SSD and 16gbtye Memory some time ago. As I really want to stay up with the latest OS is it possible by upgrading the CPUs to able to upgrade, or will I have to upgrade my computer?
