Mac Mini setup

Mac Mini M1 with my lat 2009 iMac. Is it compatible ? How do you interconnect the two.

If the 2009 iMac is 27" it should work as a display. You would need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort cable.

The "Mac from 2019 or earlier" part doesn't seem to apply for Mini DisplayPort iMacs, such as the 2009 iMac.

No. 2020 and later Macs inlcudingh the M1 Macs do not support Target Display Mode. Apple has chosen to not continue that feature with newer Macs.
