Mac Mini

Looking for an option to replace an Imac 2011 that crashed and considering the Mini.

If using mostly web-based applications and Office 365, could this be an affordable and effective option to consider?

Would i be able to access files from Time Machine Back on external drive?

What would I need i need to purchase? Monitor and a basic cord?
