I didn't know about the heic format and accidentally took a bunch of photos that are now in that format. I think I've fixed the settings so it won't happen again. Now what's the easiest way to convert all these heic files to jpg?

The default, when trying to export as JPEGs, may be a reduced size and quality. When you export with "File > Export > export ... photos", be sure to click the disclosure triangle behind "Photo Kind: JPEG". After clicking this arrow you will see the controls to select the original size and a high JPEG quality.

If they're in Photos then simply export them as Kind: Jpeg
If they're in the Finder open the in Preview and do the same.
