How can I find out the last time my lost Macbook was used?

I cannot find my MacBook Pro 16 inch at home which is the last place I remember using it. Is there a way I can check the last time it was logged into the internet - or at least my home Wi-Fi?

Thanks

Paul

Hey there Paul,

We'd like to do all we can to help find your MacBook Pro. Check out the section 'See it on a map' here: Use the Find My app to locate a lost or stolen device

If you're still unable to view its location, the next steps to take are the ones located in this link: If your Mac is lost or stolen

Take care!

Hi Michelle

Thanks for the useful answer. Fortunately I remembered where I had put my MacBook Pro in a safe hiding place whilst I was away on holiday. It was so safe it took me a few days to find it!

The tips you have given are useful, in that there was one tick box in System Preferences not ticked:

  1. Select Location Services.
  2. Select the Enable Location Services tickbox.
  3. Next to System Services, click Details.
  4. Make sure that the tickbox next to Find My Mac is selected.
  5. Click Done and then return to the main System Preferences window.
  6. Click Apple ID, then click iCloud.
  7. Select the tickbox next to Find My Mac.

Perhaps this should be enabled by default on all new Macs and I-devices? Especially because a few £Million of them were stolen from a lorry in England yesterday!

Cheers

Paul
