Log in Screen - blue ends

I just purchased a new iMac 21.5 desktop. When my log in screen opens up there are about 2 inches on each side of the screen that are blue. I would like to make my wallpaper the entire size of the screen. How do I do that?

Did you check in the settings for the wallpaper, that the option to adapt the size of the picture, to fill the screen ist selected?

Did you make sure, that the size of the pixels of the picture match the size of the pixels of the screen resolution?
