Safari Won't Open in Full Screen Anymore on MacBook Air with macOS Big Sur

I have the latest MacBook Air (2020) and ever since the last two updates, Safari will no longer open in full screen. I was hoping the macOS Big Sur update would address this issue, but unfortunately it did not. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help.

Thank you for responding, Jeff. I tried both of your suggestions, however, neither made a difference. I have discovered since my first post that if I quit Safari rather than just hitting the red "X" and then reopen Safari, it will open in full screen every time. But, if I open Safari (and it opens in full screen) then close it out by hitting the red "X" and reopen it again, it will not be in full screen every time. As I stated in my original post, this has only just started happening with the last two updates...prior to those, Safari always opened in full screen no matter if I closed it out with the red "X" or by quitting it. Any further suggestions?

Hey sahm9253,

It sounds like you're having an issue with Safari not opening in full screen. We can understand wanting to look into that further. We want to help.

First, we'd recommend checking for and disabling any extensions that may be enabled for Safari to see if that changes anything: How to install Safari extensions on your Mac

If that doesn't help, we'd suggest testing the issue in safe mode to see if the same problem occurs there: Start up your Mac in safe mode

Let us know how that goes.

Thanks!
