Can my iMac (Late 2012, 27") run Big Sur?

So I know my iMac (late 2012, 27") is not on the list of supported devices for Big Sur according to the apple Big Sur Website. However when I go to "updates" in the app store it shows the macOS Big Sur as an available update and scrolling down to "compatibility" it says "Works on this iMac".

Anyone have any ideas. I like to keep my machine up to date, but I do not want to brink it trying to install an update it can not run.

thanks
