keyboard backlight not work / options not showing up in system preferences as well SMC reset also did not help

Thank you for trying. Next, we'd recommend resetting the system management controller (SMC) to see if it resolves the issue. These steps here: How to reset the SMC of your Mac will assist you with getting it done. Although this reset does not erase any information from the Mac, we always recommend backing up the Mac first using the steps here: Back up your Mac
