I just received an iPhone 12 mini upgrade from an iPhone 6. During the set up the iPhone 12 is asking for 6 digit passcode from my iPhone 6. I’ve never had a 6 digit passcode on my iPhone 6, only a 4 digit passcode. What do I do?

It sounds like you're being asked to provide the passcode for another device and we can help.
You're going to be asked this to restore your encrypted data, if you still have your old iPhone with you you should be able to approve it from the other iPhone if it's turned on and connected to Wi-Fi:
