Macbook Pro 16" 2019. Calculator is very slow. Simple addition of single digits takes time. I divided single digit numbers then multiplied result by another number and it took 5 seconds to give the answer. I even think my keystrokes are slow.

A restart fixed it once then slowed down again. I use laptop everyday and don't do complete shut down for days. Everything was slow couple of days ago including loading web pages. Shutdown reboot had no effect. I uninstalled anti-virus sophos, rebooted, and everything is working fine now for 2 days. I'll try different anti-virus if problem doesn't return. OS 11.1.

I also have this problem but noticed that it only happens when I use the keyboard for entry. If I click the calculator buttons with the mouse there is no lag. It also seems to be affected by how quickly I strike the keys. If I take "too long" to release a key, the button stays in the "depressed" visual state for an extremely long time and won't display the result of the calculation until the button returns to its "unpressed" visual state. Annoying bug because I always use the keyboard to enter numbers and operators into the calculator...
It’s also most noticeable for me after pressing the equals key because I don’t press anything afterwards. When you press a key, it seems to “unstick” the previously-pressed button. Unfortunately there’s no key you can press to unstick the equals button that doesn’t also mess up the calculation.
What happens if you enter your entire calculation using the keyboard and then click the equals button with the mouse?
I had the exact problem on my MacBookPro 16". Upon restart, it's back to normal.
If I use the keyboard and Touch Bar for everything but use the mouse (actually trackpad) to click the equal sign on the calculator, there is no delay.
If I use the keyboard/touch bar for everything including hitting equals, still no delay.
if I start the equation with the trackpad, there is a short delay during the equation (e.g., 2+2), once I hit the plus sign and a longer delay when I hit the equal sign.
I don't know what would cause that. There's no delay here.

I've had the same issue since upgrading my 2019 16" MacBook Pro to Big Sur. Restarts to not solve the problem or me.

Thanks for checking. I did a full shutdown. Calculator works fine on restart. I had tested my spreadsheet before and it was fine even on complex calcs. If it happens again, then I'll see what is running in background. Works fine now.
Big Sur calculator is very slow.
