How long does the setup assistant take to finish installation?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like the Setup Assistant on your Mac is unresponsive, after updating to macOS Big Sur. We can help point you in the right direction.

For a Mac that is unresponsive, we suggest to force a shutdown. This is a step that is recommended, if your Mac is frozen or unresponsive. To perform this step, press and hold the power button until your Mac powers off.

Then, power on your Mac and see if you continue to experience the same behavior.
