It is possible there is a scratch on the CD affecting that track. Will other CDs rip correctly?

Yes, unless you've a particular preference for another format. It might still be worth trying the permissions fix on the Music/Media folder.

What is the location of your media folder under Music > Preferences > Files?

How old is the Mac? Optical drives don't last forever.

You're welcome. 🙂

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I have tried 3 CD's now, 2 of them brand new. I am getting the same error message for all of them.
It is about 4 weeks old
Correct I see the error code straight away after it comes up with the message do I want import.
No, Music > Media
I looked at the file information, they are not locked and I have rear/write access
What should I have under Import Settings, Import Using AAC Encoder????
Ah. Try If you see error -54 when you sync with your computer - Apple Support and Repair security permissions for iTunes/Music for Mac - Apple Community Perhaps there is a problem with write access to the destination folder. I take it you see this error immediately rather than it ripping two or three tracks and then complaining.

Hi, I just restarted the computer and it now works. Didn't make any changes. Ridiculous. Thank you so much for your help anyway.
