MacBook Air reinstall macOS

Hello,

I am giving my MacBook Air i5 13” 2017 away to my friend. I have attempted to erase everything that is stored on it following the instructions, however when trying to reinstall macOS on recovery mode I am met with a message displaying ‘The installer on the recovery server is damaged’. Looking for solutions I tried every type of recovery. When attempting an internet recovery it will load up with the timer and eventually an error code ‘-5101F’ will appear resulting in any loading to stop. I am now stuck on what to try from here, any help?

In disk utilities, erase the hard rive then reformat mac osx

you know ....search for "OSXdaily", they have incredible "how to" to reformat a disk in any OSX.

something happened were a file or something was deleted, i did this on occasion since the 1990's and several times this year

but saved every hard drive and ssd by erasing the disk and reformatting that.
