How do I re-add my Epson Stylus Photo R220 printer to my iMac desktop system after upgrading to the Big Sur OS? I'm getting various errors.

The Epson Stylus Photo R220 is ancient, and probably lacks any driver support for Big Sur at all. Since 32-bit drivers from the distant past are not supported on Big Sur, you may be faced with a new printer purchase where it is explicitly advertised as being supported in Apple's AirPrint. The latest drivers for the Stylus Photo 350 model were from June 4, 2019, and they could not possibly be supported in Catalina, much less Big Sur. Your printer is older.

The Epson support page for your printer does not seem to offer a macOS 11 (Big Sur) driver (yet). However, take a look at the page https://www.epson.eu/viewcon/corporatesite/kb/index/1018 and enter the details. A printer driver v10.85 is mentioned in the result. I found that this driver appears in connection with an XP-530 model. You may want to check whether that driver (PhotoIJP_1085_AM.dmg) in fact can be used with your printer.

With that old a printer give the open-source Gutenprint driver a try.

I had the same issue: after upgrading to Big Sur my EPSON R2880 could not be installed.

But I found this website https://epson.com/Support/Printers/Single-Function-Inkjet-Printers/Epson-Stylus-Series/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R2880/s/SPT_C11CA16201?review-filter=macOS+11.x from where you can download the driver for macOS 11.x and install it w/o any issues.

I could do it and later I'll try it, but at least I could have it installed on my iMac.
