I have more problems to install the last macOS Big Sur for my Mac 27" 2020. Who has the same problems ? Have you solved it ?

I am having issues with two iMacs. One is a 27″ 2019, the other is a 27″ 2020 iMac. Both seem to install OK, but will not reboot. If I reboot from originally installed Catalina, I see a partial unbundling of the Big Sur installer in the System…/volumes folder.
I created an external Big Sur boot HD using a 2013 MacBook. I have not converted the internal MacBook from Catalina to Big Sur yet, too many potential pitfalls. Macbook Pro boots just fine from external disk, but will not boot either iMacs.
