Google Authenticator

I have two Apple Devices (e.g., A MacBook Pro and an iPhone 12). Quite a number of sites I attempt to log into requires a number generated by the Google Authenticator app (which exists on NO Apple product). Is there a way to get around this (perhaps with an authenticator that does work with Apple)?

Please advise.

There's a bit on the topic via duckduckgo search..

While I've an iPhone and use gmail app (& on mac w/ browser login) 2FA (or V) isn't set.

Appears ‎Google Authenticator works with 2-Step Verification for your Google Account

to provide an additional layer of security when signing in.

(An aside, older Apple 'community login pages' default to later security; almost stops

older Mac OS access into the community, with good internet access via TenFourFox.)

I've no familiarity nor desire to experience Google Authenticator.

Take care & good day!🌞⛵️

While that is an unfortunate side effect of using some Google tools & products..

Or trust those you like, might not just fail; less than five years after adoption(?)

From what I could tell from their Authenticator info pages, one has to "opt-in".

So perhaps this may yield a suitable reaction to the problem..

see iPhone has slightly different wording although link hardly differs:

Since this appears to suggest their Authenticator is an option, wonder if all you

need to do on their site - is 'turn off' 2-step verification to remove this headache?

Among google topics online, they have some good answers, amid other filler.

Good luck & happy computing!🌻🐢
