How do I remove the Control Center icon from the menu bar?

I prefer to configure my MacBook Air and all apps in a utilitarian manner. I like the clean look of having only those icons I actually use appear on all interfaces.

I have no need for Control Center and would like to remove its icon from the menu bar, if for no other reason than it annoys me every time I check the time, or the battery and wifi icons.

I could not find a way to remove it. Have I missed something, or has Apple? ;-)

Thanks, gang.
