Key repeat working for delete button but not for regular characters?

I have updated my MacBook Pro 2017 non-touchbar to Big Sur this week. Somehow, I lost all my settings which was set on Catalina, one of them is key repeat. I have tried to set it off and on again in the settings, however it only has effect on the delete button, not on the other characters. Now I can delete more characters at one key press, but I can only write one at a time. Anybody got a solution for this?

My Keyboard settings look like this:

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Oh wow, yes. Key repeating works with Shift and option key held down, but not for numbers and letters without modifying key.

Yes, for the last 10 years or so Mac's by default don't repeat those letters, but instead you normally get a popup menu with accented characters.

To make letters repeat, you can try this:

open Terminal app and type

defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false

and then restart.
