Is Wise Mac Care legitimate?

Wise Mac Care suddenly showed up on my Mac recently. I am afraid it is intrusive and will harm my computer/steal my information. Is this a legitimate, Apple approved program? If not, how do I remove it from my laptop?

Thank you in advance!

Absolutely do not install any software that advertises itself to "clean" your Mac. Your mac does not need that kind of "help". And, if you had Applecare, it would not show up as a popup. Anything that does is not something you want.

It appears to be adware, so do download and run the free version of Malwarebytes for Mac - it can remove adware.

Macs do not require any so called cleaning apps - they are scams. Moreover, they are completely useless with Mac OS Catalina and later since the MacHD is now “quarantined” in a read only volume which means the OS and system files are no longer accessible.

Additionally, no legitimate app would need to use pop ups to advertise itself. That makes it scamware and/or adware. No Mac need to be exposed to that. And, I would not trust anything that is not available at the app store and makes its’ company address very difficult to find.

Hi,

Wise Mac Care is a legitimate program and offers free cleaning for junk and unwanted logs. So basic mac maintenance can be enjoyed for free. There are advanced features that can be availed in an upgraded paid version.

Wise Mac Care's site (http://www.wisemaccare.com) have clean uninstall instructions in case you do not want to keep the application you can easily remove it.

Hope this helps!
