iPhone 12 Pro Max, 14
Today, I used Runkeeper app and started heating again. So turn off Bluetooth and wifi, it goes back to normal. 12 Pro Max or iOS14 is not really stable or compatible. This combination's reputation is not in that standard yet.

ok will use a 5w charger take the 15w charger back to Apple get my money back as it’s not a good idea to use a fast Charing 15w charger on a fast Charing iPhone 12 as get to hot 🥵 I guess only time will tell on the iPhone 12 Pro Max models what will happen but I’m definitely seeing big difference in battery lost compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max my Max would do two days and that was after 4 mouths old I’m Charing this phone after 16 hours of use and not even putting any stress on the phone by playing games or taking videos and it’s new I don’t get were Apple say that the battery is 87% better it’s just not true Even more true if your using 5G it drains the battery fast
Hi,
I'm also facing the temperature increasing at same area. But, my case happens while using the banking apps. To resolve for cooling down is power cycle it. So far, facing for banking apps only.
Now I have to do it every times after using banking app. 😟
Hope apple will see this and resolve asap
I also have over heating problem when using apps and charging the phone with the fast charger contacted Apple today day I was told to use wireless charger but I only use when I got to bed, I only used the fast Charing Apple charger to day had phone for 2 half days and phone was getting hot to touch I was asked what charger I was using I told Apple I was using the fast Charing plug that I had to pay £19.00 for because they don’t come with the phone, I was then asked stilly questions like is my charger near a radiator or window just felt that I was being told to such eggs really! so I said that I was just letting them no so that if I had to bring in it’s logged with them. It’s pretty poor for a £1,100 phone and an extra £19.00 for the charger I’m surprised they did not charge for postage to be honest, I have done some research into this and there is plenty of YouTube videos staying about the over heating of the 12/12pro/12mini/12 pro Max some videos are suggesting clocking the iPhone like they did with the iPhone 7
If your phone’s temperature exceeds safe limits the phone shuts down and display a message saying it has to cool off. If it is not doing this it is not overheating. Any phone will get warm with use and when charging. The 12 Pro Max has 3 cameras, and the CCD sensor in each camera uses a lot of energy, so the phone will get very warm near the camera when it is in use. Other things that generate a lot of heat include cellular network access when the signal is weak, because the phone must increase its output power to maintain a connection, and anything that uses the video processor like watching videos or playing interactive games. And 5G network access also uses a lot of energy.
I had an iPhone 11 Pro Max and it did not get this hot when charging, The phone was charging i picked up the phone I thought this is not right the complete back of phone was hot and I was not using camera or anything els shortly if phone is getting hot the soldier joint on chips and part will eventually start to loosen not to mention the damage to the battery heat and cold are not good for batteries
You are not comparing Apples with Apples [sorry!]. The 12 has a larger battery, larger camera sensor, and charges at a faster charge rate. And also discharges at a higher rate. Solder typically melts between 400 and 600º F. If the phone got hot enough to melt solder you would have much bigger problems than just loose solder joints. And the phone’s temperature monitoring keep the phone within the range that the battery can tolerate for both heat and cold. As I’m sure you learned in physics, specifically the 2nd law of thermodynamics, nothing that uses energy can be 100% efficient, and the difference between energy supplied and energy used is expressed entirely as heat.
But if you are truly concerned don’t fast charge your phone. Use a 5W cube adapter and charge it for 6-10 hours.
You are “over analyzing” whatever issue you having with current device. Take present iPhone to Apple Store, or Authorized Apple Service Provider to have it checked out. Somebody can do diagnostic and let you know what’s going on.
Hi there Lawrence’
just been do some more research I don’t no where you did your home work but the iPhone 12 had smaller battery this is why the phones battery is not as god at iPhone 11 Pro Max
12 pro Max/Battery Capacity: 3687 mAh
11 pro Max/Battery Capacity: 3969 mAh
IPhone 12 mini/Battery Capacity: 2227 mAh
IPhone 12/Battery Capacity: 2815 mAh
iPhone 11/Battery Capacity: 3110 mAh
IPhone 12 Pro/Battery Capacity: 2815 mAh
IPhone 11 Pro/Battery Capacity: 3046 mAh
12 pro Max/Battery Capacity: 3687 mAh
11 pro Max/Battery Capacity: 3969 mAh
For me actually I thought the same because my old iphone x was overheating when using some apps but this one not even using it when it on table in my pocket etc
Same issue for me
You should work on punctuation, getting difficult to read! Cellular suppose to be set on 5G Auto, so it will not use too much battery.
Thanks for pointing this out I will take in to consideration thanks you so much
