Touch id not unlocking - MacBook Pro 2019 after upgrade to BigSur

I followed the indications to reset the Mac's SMC, but it only worked once. After locking again the screen I have to unlock using the password.

I would remove all finger prints and then add them back in.

I have exactly the same problem and can't unlock with the Touch ID since the upraise to Big Sur. I have done all the steps as mentioned above. Also unlocking with the watch has stopped working as well.

I have the same issue plus password for Administrator is no longer recognised so I cant change a number of things even though password is recognised for downloading software and even changing the password!

When will this be fixed as it appears there are currently no solutions?

Same or at least similar problem here with my 2016 MBP 15''. Big Sur partially broke my TouchID. It works every time I wake the laptop when the lid was closed before, but not from screensaver or when the MBP went to sleep with the lid open. For everything else - like signing into my account here - it works.

Latest update didn’t fix this issue either. Now I have a broken MacBook Pro Touch ID and a broken mic on iPhone 7 Plus due to iOS 14 upgrade. Apple quality control has really gone downhill this year.

Same 2019 15" MBP updated to Big Sur 11.1 on Dec 24th 2020. No Touch ID. Can't create a new fingerprint either.

I have the exact same problem. I wish I would have known before the upgrade.

The changes for some reason don't save and it doesn't allow you to save a fingerprint once you remove it.

I hope so. It is very frustrating to type the password to unlock every time.
