After Big Sur, there are some websites that have videos that produce no sound. One example is boattest.com -- the videos on the website don't produce sound after my Big Sur update. The same videos on Youtube.com or Vimeo play sound normally.

The embedded video player's audio control is muted by default. (not the system audio/volume) I don't know which "player" they are using, but it doesn't matter which browser one uses, Safari, Chrome, etc. The audio will be muted. Not the case in Catalina.

Nope.
They use proprietary codecs for audio it seems.
Not an Apple issue.
