Limit episode setting for podcasts keeps setting itself to off

i use the podcast app on multiple devices. When I subscribe to a new podcast I always set the limit episode setting to “Most Recent”.

Inevitably I’ll be browsing podcast episodes in my library and all the available episodes of some podcast I subscribe to are there. For example today I noted that “The Bill Simmons Show” podcast has 82 episodes. I’ll check the settings for that podcast and the Limit Episode setting is set to off.

Anyone else know what causes this?

It is only syncing 2 of 10 daily shows. I have tried unfollowing and re-following, that didn't help. I have tried changing my settings. That didn't help. I have it set to hid all played episodes, so now I am resorting to going through and opening each show in my library to see if there is a new episode so that I can listen to it. This is a pain in my rear. It works correctly on my laptop, so it is clearly the phone update that is the issue. Anyone else experiencing this?
