iPhone 12 mini sound output issue

Is anyone else having issues with their sound output on the iPhone 12 mini? When I plug my headphones in and lock the screen I hear a clicking noise, sound stops and then the content pauses. When I press play, the sound is played through my phone speaker. Also, haven’t been able to get the phone to play sound through my UE Boom 2.

Any advice/insight would be much appreciated.

Hey there eimear176,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re experiencing some issues related with the audio from your iPhone. We’ll be happy to help with these issues.

Just to verify, does this issue with the headphones occur with all audio and apps or only when listening to certain apps?

If you haven’t already, try with another set of headphones and see if the issue continues. Then go through the steps here:

If your headphones don't work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

For the issues with being unable to connect to your UE Boom 2, follow the steps here:

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

We hope this helps.

Take care.
