What is the Apple GPS app supposed to do?

I have an Apple Watch SE GPS only. The GPS does appear to work as it tracks my route during workouts. However, there is a GPS app installed with an earth globe as its icon. When I try to open it, I get a circle of dots going round indicating that it is loading and a row of five dots at the bottom indicating 5 'pages' on this app. The problem is, nothing ever loads. The dots just go round and round.

I have tried unpairing and pairing the watch and uninstalling and re-installing the app from the watch app on my iPhone 11. Both phone and watch have all the lates updates.

Does anyone know what is supposed to load on this app please?

I don't know what app it is

Have a look on your phone for all installed apps and you should be able to find the name there

iPhone>Watch>Installed On Apple Watch>they will show here with the icon and name

Ah found it - its MotionX-GPS. Its no longer available which is why I couldn't find it in the App store and the watch icon is somewhat different from the phone one which threw me when I was looking for it in purchases. While the phone app still works, some of its functionality went with the withdrawal of the app and I guess the watch functionality was one of them. I'll remove it (shame as the phone app is great and I still use it).

Thanks for your help :)
