when trying to update iTunes to v12.11 from 12.10.3.1 it fails. when you tools download only as suggested you get error iTunes has an invalid signature

Are you running Windows 10? Version 12.11 does not support older Windows.
Clear your browser's cache, reboot your router and your computer, then grab a fresh download using one of these versionless links for the current builds of iTunes for Windows for 64-bit and 32-bit respectively:
