Email won't load

On Macbook Pro 2014 with El Capitan - two days ago when I try to open "mail" - it immediately goes to a an apple problem report page saying "mail quit unexpectedly". This has never happened before. What can I do?

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11
