Red dot top right of login screen

I have a red dot on my macbook that showed up on the top right of the login screen. Does this have to do with network connections? Is my camera on? This is a company computer, but I am at home. I am just curious about it and what it is. I saw in a past post that someone replied it could be the battery. I know this isn't the case with this computer as it is new and the battery is in great working condition. I know on previous company computers the red dot that was next to my name in the login field meant that network connections were unavailable, but this is at the top of the screen where the record button usually is, so it kind of weirded me out. This dot showed up just after I powered the machine up for the day, so I had not mistakenly left anything recording. I don't use recording programs on this computer anyway. (It has a built-in auto shut down every night that closes out all apps or fails when an app won't let it shut down. ) Anyone know a simple answer to this? Thanks!

Hello akhusky20,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about a red dot on your Mac.

It may be a third-party app. One I found that uses a red dot is called Simple Recorder - Voice Recorder

As these are not made by Apple, contact the company that gave you the computer, or the app manufacturer for help. Even if it is not this app, there may be others that use the same representation with their app. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
