My browser (chrome) doesn't load images or video's on some websites. It also doesn't load some websites at all, just getting text and crosses. Also tried using other browsers (opera, safari and firefox) but facing the same problems there. Starting to think it's something on my macbook.

If restoring standard fonts does not fix the problem then provide a representative URL that is not rendering them properly. To duplicate your conditions I'll need to restore an El Capitan system which will take a few days though.
You are using a very old Mac OS version.
Why don't you upgrade to something modern.
I've already tried what's on there but i'm still having the same problem.
