At times my callers can’t hear me or I them. Is there something else I need to know from this happening?

Are you asking about the orange dot, which simply means that your phone’s microphone is on? It is not related to any problems you have hearing or being heard. That can be a network issue, or, if you use Wi-Fi calling the quality of your Internet connection.
Does this happen when holding the phone to your ear, or using the speaker phone, or using a wired or Bluetooth headset?
iOS update to 14.2. It’s frustrating that in a middle of a call my phone goes mute. They can’t hear me or I them. I try to go back and forth from speaker to air pods to handheld. I end up having to hang up.
Well powering off the phone did the trick. I successfully had two calls without having to hang up. Thanks to all that helped.
Did you try reseating your SIM card, as deggie suggested?
Here are instructions—>Remove or switch the SIM card in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

it happens when I’m talking on phone via air pods, speaker or by hand. All of sudden I can’t hear them or them me. Not using wifi connection. This hasn’t happened before update. No issues until now.
Which update?
I did but it didn’t work. Powered off phone and hope that works.
