Bootcamp usb not seeing bootcamp partition

I’ve just installed Big Sur from scratch using a bootable usb.

I’m trying to install windows.

  1. Have downloaded windows 10 iso from Microsoft.
  2. Bootcamp setup sees the windows 10 iso and creates the usb and downloads the bootcamp windows drivers.
  3. I create the bootcamp partition,
  4. laptop reboots a couple of times and I can see the usb is being accessed but after a couple of attempts the laptop reboots back into Big Sur.

Hi. It’s a late 2013 MacBook Pro

However, I now have windows installed. It appears with Big Sur once I’ve got bootcamp assistant to create my bootcamp usb and bootcamp partition, after it reboots, I need to keep finger on the alt button and select EFI boot for it to boot up from the USB.

From then on it’s the normal installation of windows.
