Hi, was kind of waiting for new apple tv but curious if the Mac Mini would run tvOS on dual boot since M1 is ARM
Thinking I could use as Apple TV and just unplug for some other uses when needed. I don't use Mac since college (but use iphone and other apple stuffs)
No, it won’t. OP wants to edit Excel files, use the Files App to find ‘em and Notepad to update lists. Me too. C’mon, Apple.
Good point. I’m hoping the next iteration would also allow WatchOS dual boot so I can wear it on my wrist. Will be quite an attention grabber. Should be easy too : have the mini run on battery, replace the top metal cover with a Retina LCD and offer a choice of customizable straps. C’mon Apple. You’re welcome.

Forgot something. Also needs to have Apple CarPlay capability as well.
Good point but to get me interested they’ll need to shrink it by a few inches, add a shell casing with ISO connector, an eject button to slide the mini out, a mic, and a Retina display on its side. Without increasing the price. C’mon Apple 😁
Eh- I get where you're coming from and you guys can have fun with that. Using the TV app wouldnt give the remote functionality that I'm looking for.
Real other use is to drive a projector on side of house without running cables since I can power it closer but not get HDMI to projector without ridiculous length.
Secondary thought is i have an extra monitor and keyboard and such so I could switch it over for guests to use if they need it. Keep the old firestick in the drawer for when this is the case.
I atleast like to think I'm more savvy than asking if a program running on an intel mac will work on the m1 chip when apples intentions are plenty clear.
So yes, overkill is understood. But actually has a use compred to watchOS lol
Seriously though for the OP, the Apple TV app will do most everything
the Apple TV device will do (including subscription channels).
For Music, there is the Music app.
