see the attached image. this has been going on now for at least 4 weeks. in the image. the ""thinking"" symbol never stops for me as long as the phone is on. it doesn't matter what I do. it never shuts off. can you guys help with this? all software is up to date, and all apps are up to date. thanks.

Let's check to see if you have apps that are active in the background:
Switch apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Additionally, check to see if you have any mail stuck in your Outbox mail folder.

there is nothing there that has anything to do with the issue. not that I can see anyway. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be looking for.
and i do not use apple's default mail. i use gmail. and neither one has anything in the outbox.
