GUID scheme Windows systems question

Hello all, I have once again had to go through the security challenge to be allowed ot login on my computer here, but I have a question involving an external hard drive that I am trying to format for both Macintosh & Windows devices....

It seems that just formatting the drive to Exfat is not enough, because Windows will still not recognize the device once plugged in, and this is because of the Scheme chosen when formatting the drive.

I just got this external drive, and wanted to make two partitions on it, one for saving files etcetera, and one for Time Machine, but if I do this, and change the Scheme to GUID, then it will not be recognized on a Windows device. Unfortunately, if you use GUID Partition Map, it is now craved in stone, and cannot be changed to MBR, because if you select MBR, the Partition option becomes greyed out.

My question is this, can you set two different schemes for two different partitions on an external drive, and if so how please??

Thanks in advance!!

external drives are relatively inexpensive. Get more than one.

Time Machine does best on its own dedicated drive.
