macOS 11.0.1 textedit sigabrt

Happens on iMAC and Mac Pro desktop

the file seems poisoned. Other .RTFS work Ok but this one crashes whenever you remove a line feed. Single deletions leaving the line feed work OK. And of course, removing more than one line removes a line feed... so that crashes.

SIGABRT (Signal Abort) error...

What exact macOS is this?

What exact mac is this?

Uninstall any and all third party Antivirus, Cleaners, Optimizers, speeder uppers....

You can file a bug report for the new macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur

Apple Feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback

You can try To trouble shoot further you can:

—Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot as normal and test as caches get rebuilt.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

The problem began after the installation of Big Sur And… so far only a single file is affected. I changed the file to plain text and back, I duplicated the file, I copied the file and pasted into a new textedit file... and the problem remained. The file is .rtf and 1,767 bytes in size. Want a copy? I’ll try the safe boot you describe and see if that helps
