Update to latest software in a Mimi Ipad

Can I update an older Ipad mini to the latest and greatest Ipad software or do I have to buy a new Ipad?

iOS 14.2 requires an iPad mini to be a fourth generation or newer model. Other iPads which support it are the iPad 5, second generation iPad Air, any iPad Pro, and any newer one.

Most likely NOT.

Your iPad is probably too old, now.

If you need/want updated an iPad with tge newest iPadOS versions with current, up to date apps, then you need to seriously consider a new iPad model OR a “newer” , used iPad model capable of running the latest iPadOS versions.

There are plenty of newer, older iPad models that can run the current iPadOS 14.

Sorry & Best of Luck to You!
