My next question is how many watts can an old iPad mini 2 take? My old charger was 12W. How does increasing watts effect charging? I don’t have a USB-C enabled MAC, so should I stick with 12W chargers for my iPad mini 2?
Your iPad mini (likely an iPad mini2 if iOS12.x is installed) has a Lightning Port - not USB. However, you can use a USB-C Power Adapter with a USB-C to Lightning cable - available from Apple.
You are absolutely right. It has a lightning port and uses a lightning cord. Good to know there is an adaptor for USB-C.
