Yes, i had 18G6042. It caused my 9,2 MBP to slow down during boot-up. Yesterday, I got a notification that a new update is available so I downloaded and installed it. It came out to be 18G7007. It improved the boot-up speed.
Could it be a beta update? I enrolled in the beta program.

If you are still enrolled in the beta program it's possible. It's a little late for a Mojave beta patch but who knows. If it came through Software Update it's no doubt legit.
ok, so no fake or malware can come through Apple's software update system? that's good to know. reason for my query in my 1st post is that I googled 18G7007 and there was no info about it so i got scared and thought i downloaded a malware of some sort
Thanks!
Yes, it is a public test beta.
Last released update was on 12 Nov 2020.

Ok, I have no idea how beta program works. Maybe you need to check in beta program forums/community.
You're welcome.
Do you have a link for the beta forums? I tried the Developer Forums using a link in another thread but I couldn't connect
