Flash not working properly when taking pictures. iPhone 7 XR

When taking a picture in low light, the flash works by the picture comes out dark. Seems like a sync issue, meaning the flash is not on time when the picture is taken, thus the picture result is dark as if the flash did not help illuminating the image. I have restarted, updated and reset the phone, nothing helped.

Hi Wemaniac6x1,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're running into an issue when taking photos with the flash on your device. We're happy to provide some information to help.

If you have a device that supports Night mode, try using that feature when taking photos in low light. See more about that here: Use Night mode on your iPhone

If you're not able to use Night mode, let us know a bit more about what's happening. Have you been able to take low light photos without this issue previously? Does this happen regardless of the camera mode you use? We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you.

I think Night mode is not available for iPhone 7.

In regards to your question, yes, I was able to take pictures in low light before just fine using the flash. However, recently (3 months maybe) whenever I try to take a picture in low light, the pictures come out dark even if the flash is turned on and it flashes at the moment the picture is taken. For some reason the flash does not make a difference. I do not use a cover for the phone, so there is nothing covering or blocking the flash.
